Due to the recent influx of messages regarding the lack of contact with the creator of the WP Appointments plugin, Dawid Urbański, and the assumption that we are responsible for the plugin and its current state, we would like to clarify a few things.
Our collaboration with Dawid Urbański ended in June of this year, after he, without prior communication regarding his unavailability and the continuation of the project, revoked our access to accounts and deleted our shared communication channel. As a result, we stopped creating and planning content for the WP Appointments channels.
As Department of Web, we acted as an external marketing team. We conducted consumer research, developed a product strategy and feature set for the WP Appointments plugin, and created a communication strategy. Additionally, we managed the performance agency during the Waitlist campaign and oversaw the work of the social media manager and copywriter we had recruited.
Due to a large volume of technical projects, our development team never participated in the actual development of the plugin, which is essential for the product to be launched.
While it's true that contact with Dawid Urbański has been challenging and the plugin has yet to be released, we would not go as far as to call the project a scam. Additionally, we strongly oppose the practice of exposing private accounts of employees involved in the project to public backlash by people who feel misled by WP Appointments.
In reference to the statement released by WP Appointments, the project has faced several challenges due to Dawid’s limited availability as the primary (and essentially sole) developer. We appreciate Dawid's expertise and passion for creating innovative solutions, but we also understand that time is a finite resource.
At the same time, we understand the frustration of WP Appointments customers and believe that each of them deserves the appropriate refunds. However, we have no influence over how this situation will unfold.
We view our involvement with WP Appointments as a valuable experience and are proud of the work we completed. The research we conducted helped shape a plugin that garnered significant interest from the WordPress community, as evidenced by the number of pre-sales. We hope that the plugin will be released some day.
